Spring Football Rundown: Round 1

Spring football drills began this week amongst the backdrop of march madness. While I’m not always that thrilled about spring drills–I think people place way too much emphasis on them–this year there is certainly more to watch for as it is the first spring under the new Bill Stewart coaching regime. There are a few positional battles and the rest is moving guys around and creating depth.

WVU has a somewhat odd schedule for spring drills this year as they will practice four times this week, then take 10 days off for spring break and resume March 31, before the April 19 spring game. I guess the early Easter is to blame. Seems less-than-optimal to me though.

About all I can do is link some articles, since there’s really no news that comes out other than the few reporters that have access to spring practices, and even then how much do they really see? So it also becomes kind of dull and repetitive. Nonetheless, here’s a rundown from the opening of spring drills.

That’s all for now, as things will probably be pretty mellow this week with March Madness, so expect more spring news after they resume at the end of month.
