The Birds-with-Teeth advance to the Big East title game to face the host UConn. WVU is outrebounded in the contest by a wide 38-23 margin. WVU started out cold from the floor and never really recovered, as U of L cruised to a 41-21 halftime lead and held off the WVU comeback attempts in the second half. Angel McCaughtry led the way for U of L with 24 points and 9 boards. This marks the second consecutive year that the Cardinals have eliminated the Mountaineers from Big East tournament play. At 24-6, the Mountaineers will now await NCAA tournament selection, where the experts believe they will be slotted as a 4 or 5 seed.
